By using this website or engaging our services, you agree to these terms. Please read them before proceeding.
1. Definitions
- "Atelier" / "We" / "Us" / "Our" — Horologe House.
- "Client" / "You" — any individual who submits an enquiry, deposits a watch, or engages the atelier for services.
- "Services" — intake consultation and estimate, standard workshop service, and concierge restoration project, as described on this website.
- "Watch" — the mechanical timepiece deposited by the Client for assessment or servicing.
- "Estimate" — the written document produced following an intake consultation, describing recommended work and indicative costs.
- "Project Plan" — the written document prepared for concierge restoration projects, reviewed and approved by the Client before irreversible work begins.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By using this website or depositing a watch for any service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into these terms. If you are acting on behalf of a third party, you represent that you have authority to do so.
Submitting the website enquiry form, sending an email, or depositing a watch in person constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
3. Service Description
Horologe House offers bench-based watch assessment and servicing for mechanical movements, operating from Kuching, Sarawak. Services are available to clients in Malaysia. The atelier does not currently offer postal drop-off or return of watches.
Detailed descriptions of each service path — including scope, pricing, and typical turnaround — are available on the Solutions page of this website. The atelier reserves the right to decline any job it considers outside its scope or capacity.
4. Client Responsibilities
- Provide accurate information about the watch and its history when requested.
- Inform the atelier of any known damage, previous repairs, or modifications before work begins.
- Collect the watch within 30 days of being notified that it is ready. Watches left beyond 30 days without arrangement may attract a storage fee.
- Not use this website for any unlawful purpose or in a way that infringes the rights of others.
5. Service-Specific Terms
5.1 Intake Consultation and Estimate
The intake consultation fee (RM 520) is payable at collection of the written estimate, regardless of whether further work is commissioned. The estimate is indicative; actual costs for subsequent work may vary if the condition of the movement differs materially from what was observable at intake.
5.2 Standard Workshop Service
The quoted price covers the work described in the service description. If additional issues are discovered during disassembly that require parts or work not included in the original scope, the Client will be contacted for approval before proceeding. No additional costs will be incurred without the Client's prior consent.
5.3 Concierge Restoration Project
Work does not proceed beyond intake assessment until the Client has reviewed and approved the written Project Plan. Any revision to scope during the project will be discussed and agreed in writing before implementation. Parts costs are in addition to the labour fee unless explicitly stated otherwise in the Project Plan.
6. Payment Terms
All prices are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (RM). Payment is due at collection of the watch or completion of the service, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in writing. Accepted payment methods include cash and bank transfer.
The atelier reserves the right to retain a watch until full payment is received. For concierge restoration projects with a project value exceeding RM 5,000, a deposit of 30% may be required before work begins.
7. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, images, and layout — is the property of Horologe House or its licensors. You may view and print content for personal, non-commercial reference. Reproduction, redistribution, or commercial use of any content without written permission is not permitted.
8. Disclaimers
The atelier applies professional care and skill to all work. However, we cannot warrant specific outcomes for mechanical watches, which are complex objects affected by age, previous handling, and condition factors outside our control.
Information on this website is for general reference only and does not constitute professional advice on the value, condition, or provenance of any watch.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by Malaysian law, the atelier's liability for any claim arising from services performed is limited to the amount paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses, including any loss of value claimed to result from servicing work, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.
10. Termination
Either party may withdraw from a service engagement before irreversible work has begun, subject to payment of any work already performed (including the intake consultation fee where applicable).
For concierge restoration projects, withdrawal after the Project Plan has been approved and work has begun may result in partial charges for work completed to that point. These will be itemised and discussed with the Client.
11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved through direct discussion will be referred to the courts of Sarawak, Malaysia, which shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
In the first instance, we ask that any concern be raised directly with us by contacting [email protected]. We will make reasonable effort to resolve the matter promptly.
12. General Provisions
- Entire Agreement: These terms, together with any written estimate or project plan issued, constitute the entire agreement between the parties.
- Severability: If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force.
- No Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision on one occasion does not waive the right to enforce it on another.
- Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these terms without our written consent.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. The current version will be published on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the website or services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
